I bought a kids school bag!

Passing closely by a shop, I once just happened to glance at the school bags showcased in the transparent glass shelves in a kids store and an array of childhood nostalgia broke off. Of course, school days used to be so much fun!

I remember how keen we all were about the stuff we brought to school, whether it was the lunch box sporting funny designs, the pencils of all lengths and erasers of various colors, or other stationary items. On the top of all this came our hankering for trendiest school bags. After all, it was the thing that was spotted at the earliest by schoolmates, friends, onlookers, and even teachers. No kid would want his style and taste quotients to go down because of his wrong choice of a dull school bag.

It was Spiderman, Superman, Batman, Popeye, Cinderella, and other cartoon characters adorning their front side that made us more excited than the books that were carried inside the school bags. Even after a decade and more kids’ world has not changed. Looking at those school bags, I can sense the craze for legendary superheroes being far from over. Kids too have their idols and they love and live up to that factor more than we do with ours. I could immediately hear a little girl shouting in a sweet voice, “Dad, I want the red Go Go Thomas only, and no other thing on my school bag. Please, buy me one.” I could not help smiling for some obvious reason. A young boy had just bought a Chhota Bheem one and he was so happy that he almost dashed into me while coming out. Some kids were buying Simba school bags. There were other school bags for girls with artistic designs and sleek looks as well as school bags for boys with racing cars, sports prints, etc. The shop seemed to know the taste and choices of kids too well. Amazed by the little fans, I did not realize when did I step into the shop, until the shopkeeper asked me what I wanted.

It has been a week since then and just yesterday, while shopping online for sports shoes, I ordered one Chhota Bheem school bag as a gift for my 10-years old niece, who I recalled, in time, was also fond of buying chicest school bags. She never misses any Chhota Bheem episode. I just hope now she would never miss her school any of the days, too.
